The long awaited UFC debut of Eddie Alvarez (25-3) finally came to fruition at UFC 178. As he took on #5 Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (24-6), who fights for the 4th time in 2014.
The former Bellator lightweight champion left the promotion as their champ, with a win over Michael Chandler. Alvarez has long thought to be one of the best fighters outside of the UFC and has fought overseas for a long time before coming back over to the US.
Donald Cerrone is coming off four straight finishes, over Jim Miller, Edson Barboza, Adriano Martins, and Evan Dunham and still hopes to fulfill his expectations of six fights in the calender year.
