Rafael dos Anjos has been dominant in the UFC’s lightweight division for several years, repping a 10-1 record since 2012. The one loss was against the top-ranked lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov, who will be gunning for a rematch in the near-future. The Brazilian won the title in March 2015 with an incredible performance against Anthony Pettis. He then successfully defended his belt against Donald Cerrone in December with a first round TKO. dos Anjos is currently on a five-fight win streak.
Eddie Alvarez was 9-1 in Bellator, winning their lightweight belt twice before coming to the UFC. After losing to Donald Cerrone in his UFC debut, Alvarez took home split decision victories against Gilbert Melendez and Anthony Pettis, placing him at the top of the list of lightweight contenders. Of his 27 victories, 14 have come by way of knockout, and seven via submission.
