Originally scheduled to be headlined by a bantamweight bout between Urijah Faber and Raphael Assuncao, was changed due to an injury; as a result Demian Maia vs. Ryan LaFlare got promoted to the main event.
A matchup of top 15 welterweights sees the undefeated 14th ranked Ryan LaFlare face the toughest test in his career in Brazilian 7th ranked Demian Maia. LaFlare has looked exceptional in his four bouts in the UFC, earning unanimous decisions over all of his opponents, while Maia bounced back from a two-fight slide in his last outing, by defeating Alexander Yakovlev in Brazil.
