Nate Diaz made his return on Saturday at UFC on FOX 13, also 13 months in-between fights due to an ongoing personal contract dispute he had with his employer. In his return he faced #3 ranked lightweight Rafael Dos Anjos, who was coming off the biggest win in his career–a knockout of former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson.

Diaz also had his own battles leading up to this co-main event bout, with weight, interviews, and mandatory appearances. He came overweight by 4.5 lbs during the weigh-ins–costing him 20% of his purse, refused to do a pre-fight interview with the UFC in which it was revealed that he was fined $10,000, and missed the open workout on Thursday.
