A rematch of their DREAM 6 encounter in 2008 headlined UFC Fight Night 50 as #4 Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (20-3) and #7 Gegard Mousasi (35-4-2) fought to potentially determine who may be the next in line to challenge for the UFC middleweight championship.
The former Strikeforce middleweight champion, “Jacare” is riding a 6-fight win streak coming into this main event, winning his first three fights in the UFC over the likes of Chris Camozzi, Yushin Okami, and Francis Carmont.
Mousasi, also a former Strikeforce champion of the light heavyweight division, bounced back from a loss to Lyoto Machida with a first round submission over Mark Munoz in May.
Gegard Mousasi emerged victorious in their first encounter, landing a perfectly timed up kick to knockout “Jacare” and become the inaugural DREAM Middleweight champion.
