The main event features a rematch between two heavyweights, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva (18-5, 1 NC) and former UFC heavyweight champion, Andrei Arlovski (22-10, 1 NC). The two first met in Strikeforce in 2010, with Silva walking away with the 3-round unanimous decision victory. This time they will battle for five rounds.
Silva is coming off an incredible fight of the year candidate performance against Mark Hunt back in December at UFC Fight Night 33 in Australia. ‘Big Foot’ fought to a draw with the Samoan, but it was later revealed that he had failed a post-fight drug test for elevated levels of testosterone and faced a 9-month suspension. Having served that suspension, he returns to action just 6 days after the 9-months.
Arvloski returned to the UFC in June for the first time in 6 years, winning a split decision over Brendan Schaub at UFC 174. ‘The Pitbull’ left the UFC in 2008 after the completion of his contract, and joined Affliction, Strikeforce, ONE FC, and WSOF before returning to the UFC. He is currently riding a 3-fight win streak.
